{"id":2,"date":"2013-10-10T07:21:40","date_gmt":"2013-10-10T07:21:40","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.juliesutherland.net\/designstudio\/?page_id=2"},"modified":"2025-03-25T18:01:46","modified_gmt":"2025-03-25T18:01:46","slug":"about","status":"publish","type":"page","link":"https:\/\/www.juliesutherland.net\/","title":{"rendered":"About"},"content":{"rendered":"<h2><\/h2>\n<h1 style=\"text-align: left;\"><span style=\"color: #5c007a;\"><strong>&#x1f64b;&#x1f3fb;&#x200d;&#x2640;&#xfe0f;<\/strong> <\/span><span style=\"color: #5c007a;\">I&#8217;m a <span style=\"color: #9802c9;\">designer<\/span>, <span style=\"color: #9802c9;\">researcher<\/span> &amp; <span style=\"color: #9802c9;\">design manager<\/span> working on products &amp; <span style=\"color: #3f0154;\">services<\/span> for the public<\/span><\/h1>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #3f0154;\">My approach is informed by<\/span><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><span style=\"color: #3f0154;\">2+ years in federal service working on unemployment insurance modernization and income verification for means-tested benefits.<\/span><\/li>\n<li><span style=\"color: #3f0154;\">6 years designing and supporting the scrappy yet equity-centered design &amp; research practices at Code for America<\/span><\/li>\n<li><span style=\"color: #3f0154;\">3 years learning interaction design and operations at Dubberly Design Office<\/span><\/li>\n<li><span style=\"color: #3f0154;\">2+ years freelancing for arts and human-rights non profits<\/span><\/li>\n<li><span style=\"color: #3f0154;\">A masters in Human-Computer Interaction and Design<\/span><\/li>\n<li><span style=\"color: #3f0154;\">Early design jobs proofing comps and answering phones at small San Francisco print and branding firms<\/span><\/li>\n<li><span style=\"color: #3f0154;\">Working in collectives, studios, and residencies on paintings, drawings and social practice work.<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><span style=\"color: #3f0154;\">Good civic design demands humility and collaboration.
